This department, as a direct dependency of the National Police, works in line with the mission, vision and values, within the legal framework of the regulations for the application of Law 590-16 in subsection I, Art. 49, which states that the Central Directorate of Tourism Police (POLITUR) is the body responsible for providing and guaranteeing citizen security in the Dominican tourism sector, through prevention, protection and guidance actions for national and/or foreign tourists who visit the monuments, facilities and tourist areas of the country
